The September Full Moon: Release What No Longer Serves You

September 26th is the September Full Moon.

There is something powerful about the Full Moon arriving in the same week as the Fall Equinox.

The Equinox marks a change of seasons and a moment of balance between light and darkness. The Full Moon is often used as a time for reflection and release. Together, they offer a simple reminder: you don't have to carry everything into your next season.

We spend so much time thinking about what we want to add to our lives, new goals, habits, relationships, opportunities, and dreams. But sometimes moving forward isn't about adding more. It's about deciding what we're finally ready to put down.

Maybe it's resentment. An old version of yourself. The need to control an outcome. Someone else's expectations. A relationship you've outgrown. A mistake you keep replaying. Or simply the belief that you should be further along by now.

Fall gives us the perfect reminder. Trees don't fight to hold onto leaves that have completed their season. They let them go and make room for what comes next.

Maybe we can do the same.

A Simple Full Moon Ritual

Find a quiet place, light a candle, make some tea, and take out a piece of paper.

On one side write:

I AM RELEASING...

Write down anything you don't want to carry into this next season.

On the other side write:

I AM MAKING SPACE FOR...

Write down what you want more of—peace, joy, confidence, adventure, love, strength, or whatever feels right for you.

When you're finished, choose one action you can take this week that represents what you're making space for.

Journal Prompts

  • What am I ready to stop carrying?
  • What have I outgrown?
  • What would I like to make more space for in my life?

Full Moon Affirmation

I release what has completed its season in my life and make space for what comes next.

This week, you don't have to have everything figured out.

You just have to decide what you're no longer taking with you.

Release it. Make space. Welcome the next season.
